About
Singer-Songwriter/Guitarist Matthew Shad wanted to make an album focusing on his love of melodic & hard rock music. After meeting Grammy Award-winning producer Bob St. John, the two joined forces to record two songs and bring SHAD to life. Best known for his work with Extreme, Duran Duran & Collective Soul, St. John has also been behind the mixing console for Sir Elton John, Aerosmith’s Steven Tyler & Journey’s Steve Perry. It was St. John’s suggestion that Matthew bring in Extreme’s Kevin “KFigg” Figueiredo on drums. After the release of their debut singles, “Fool” & “Belittle", the band began work on three other songs to complete 2021’s “5ive” EP. SHAD’s blend of melodic hard rock was met with high praise from both critics & fans around the world.
In May of 2022, “Sad But True” was released which featured a collaboration with The Lickerish Quartet whose members are Eric Dover (Slash’s Snakepit, Alice Cooper, Jellyfish), Tim Smith (Sheryl Crow, Noel Gallager, Jellyfish) & Roger Joseph Manning Jr. (Beck, Ringo Starr, Brian Wilson, Cheap Trick, Alice In Chains, Jellyfish). SHAD is currently in the studio with St. John working on completing their full length album, “A Cruel Void”.
